Healthy Cocktail: Watermelon Mint Twist | Nutrition Stripped

Today I’m sharing a delicious cocktail recipe, my first cocktail recipe shared on the blog (!) to celebrate my birthday coming up next week (hello last year in my 20’s) with a healthy twist using one of my favorite juices here in Nashville. I feel like I’m not alone in LOVING watermelon during the summer since it’s incredibly hydrating, sweet, and filling. Combining fresh watermelon juice with cooling mint and lemon juice with vodka is a win win for a healthier twist on a cocktail.

Cheers!

A couple weeks ago I shared the Love Your Liver Iced Tea which was a hit and so many of you have been loving this liver tonic, so keep tabs on this recipe and maybe utilize the day after enjoying this healthy cocktail! A delicious option is to serve this cocktail with are Watermelon Cubes to increase the watermelon flavor and make a beautiful presentation! Watermelon contains vitamin C, A, potassium, magnesium, amino acids, and antioxidants such as lycopene. It’s incredibly hydrating not just from the high water content but also from the natural electrolytes making it one of the best and healthiest drink mix-in’s when you want something a little sweet.

Healthy Cocktail: Watermelon Mint Twist | Nutrition StrippedMake it a mocktail! If you don’t want to use alcohol, no worries – just use the same amount of sparkling water to add a little body and fizz to the drink.

Healthy Cocktail: Watermelon Mint Twist
Recipe type: drinks
Prep time:
Total time:
Serves: 1

A healthy twist on a vodka twist using fresh pressed watermelon juice with mint. Can be made alcohol free using sparkling water instead of liquor.
Ingredients
  • 1 bottle Watermelon Juice (Fountain of Juice local to Nashville)
  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1 tablespoon freshly juiced lemon
  • 2 mint leaves
  • Optional garnishes: fresh mint, lemon zest, cube of watermelon
Instructions
  1. Pour all ingredients in a shaker with a small handful of ice and shake for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  2. Serve over Watermelon Cubes or ice. Enjoy immediately.
Notes
Note: If you don't have access to cold press watermelon juice you can make your own by adding 2 cups of watermelon in a blender, blending until smooth and then straining the pulp out so you're just left with the watermelon juice.
Mocktail: don't use vodka and use sparkling water instead
